FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Humpback whales migrate to the waters off Puerto Rico's west coast during the winter months, generally from January through March. February is often one of the most active months for whale watching, although sightings vary throughout the season.
-
Humpback whales are wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed. However, we do everything we can to give our guests the best possible opportunity to experience them.
Our experienced local captains work closely with other captains and fishermen along Puerto Rico's west coast, sharing information about recent sightings and whale movements to help locate migrating humpbacks.
We also carry an underwater hydrophone, which allows us to listen for whale songs beneath the surface. During whale season, there's a very good chance of hearing humpbacks even when they aren't visible from the boat, although this also depends on whale activity and conditions.
And there's always more to discover along the way, with opportunities to encounter sea turtles, manatees, seabirds, and other marine life.

Our boat is also equipped with an underwater hydrophone, giving guests the opportunity to hear humpback whale songs when conditions allow.

We recommend bringing sunglasses, a hat, a light jacket or windbreaker, and comfortable clothing. Even on warm days in Puerto Rico, it can feel cooler out on the water. Shoes with non-slip soles are recommended. Barefoot on board is always best!
Complimentary sunscreen is provided on board. Please note that spray sunscreen is not permitted, as it can stain the boat's fiberglass surfaces.
You're welcome to bring your own food, drinks, and alcoholic beverages aboard. We also provide complimentary snacks, bottled water, and soft drinks throughout the trip.
Feel free to bring your phone or camera, although your captain will also capture photos and videos of your experience at no additional charge.

Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. Our captain carefully monitors weather forecasts, wind, swell height, and overall sea conditions before every trip.
Even on sunny days, large ocean swells or rough seas can make conditions unsuitable for whale watching. If our captain determines that conditions are unsuitable for a safe and enjoyable experience, we may need to reschedule or cancel your charter.
We understand that many of our guests are visiting Puerto Rico on vacation, so we'll do our best to accommodate an alternative date whenever possible.
If we cancel your trip due to weather or sea conditions, you'll receive a full refund if rescheduling isn't possible.

Families are welcome aboard our whale-watching charters! With a maximum of six passengers, our trips offer a relaxed, personal experience where children can learn about humpback whales and other marine life.
Our captain enjoys sharing interesting facts about the ocean, and kids especially love the opportunity to listen for whale songs through our underwater hydrophone.
For everyone's safety, children ages 12 and under must wear a life jacket at all times while on board (as per USCG regulations). We provide properly sized life jackets at no additional charge.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Participation is subject to suitable weather and sea conditions, and safety is always our first priority.

While humpback whales are the main attraction during the winter migration, the waters off Rincón are teeming with a wonderful variety of marine life.
Depending on the season and conditions, we may encounter sea turtles, dolphins, pilot whales, manatees, sharks, schools of tropical fish, and a variety of seabirds including frigates, boobies, terns, and pelicans.
Every trip is different, and part of the excitement is never knowing exactly what nature has in store. While sightings of any particular species can't be guaranteed, there's always something interesting to discover along Puerto Rico's beautiful west coast

Ocean conditions can vary, and even experienced boaters occasionally experience seasickness.
If you're prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking your preferred preventative medication before departure, following the manufacturer's instructions. Staying hydrated, eating a light meal beforehand, and keeping your eyes on the horizon can also help.
Our captain carefully monitors weather and sea conditions to provide a safe and comfortable experience. However, some ocean movement is normal, even on calm days.
If a guest becomes seasick during the charter, our captain will do their best to help them feel comfortable. Requests to return to shore early will be considered at the captain's discretion and those on board, taking into account the safety and comfort of everyone.
Trips shortened at a guest's request due to seasickness are not eligible for refunds.
If you're concerned about seasickness, please contact us before booking.
